Glossary of Terms
On this page, you can find an alphabetical list of words that you may come across while using our help portal, or hear when people talk about the Web-to-Print Industry.
Additional Options
Additional Options in the print industry refer to the property or options other than the basic characteristics associated with the product. For example, you have a business card product and you want to offer some extra features with the original product such as Corner Type, Lamination Type, Color Preferences, etc.
Admin Markup %
Admin Markup Percentage is an amount that the admin charges when the actual order fulfillment is done by a vendor. Here, he defines the product price, vendor price, and a markup % for self, which calculates the final product price.
Art Layout
Various layouts for art/graphics were created using the ‘Custom Art Maker’ Add-on plugin. Customers can use these arts to personalize their products. This feature is only available when the ‘Custom Art Maker’ Add-On plugin is enabled.
Artwork
In Print Industry, an Artwork is defined as a print-ready file with all the product specifications that can be used by a commercial printer to print the final product.
Attributes
The values associated with the additional options are called attributes. In other terms, attributes are the variants of additional options. Example: For the 'Lamination' additional option, 'Matte', 'Glossy', 'Spot UV', etc. are its attributes.
Blind Shipping
It refers to the shipping method where the end customers or the receivers are unaware of the sender or the shipper.
Customer/Users
A customer/user is a person or company that buys products/services from your website or business.
Default Store
It's the OnPrintShop B2C front store that you get by default whenever you purchase any of the OnPrintShop plans.
Designer Studio
It is our in-house easy-to-use online designing tool. Through this one can design various products like stationery, promotional, wide format, canvas, calendar, etc. Technical expertise is not required to use this tool.
Help Templates
It is a design guide for the customers. It generally contains instructions regarding product margins - safe margin, trim margin, and bleed margin available in the designer studio canvas.
Job
A job in OPS is referred to as the action to fulfill/complete the order received.
Mailing Product
The product in which the mailing service (via the 'Mailing & Fulfillment' Add-on Plugin) is enabled is referred to as 'Mailing Product'.
Offline Order
Offline orders are those orders which are placed by the Admin on behalf of their customers from the admin panel. Generally, this option is for orders received via phone, walk-in, or email.
OnPrintShop Store/Web store
The OnPrintShop Store or web store is referred to as the storefront through which you offer your products/services to your end customers.
PDF Block Template
It's a type of PDF template, in which the blocks/element's positions and sometimes also the element's properties like font type, size, etc. are predefined and non-customizable. This facility is a part of the 'PDF Block Templates' Add-On plugin.
Printer
The Printer here are the print vendors to whom you will assign the print orders for products.
Printer Branch
The Print Branch generally refers to one of the many locations from where the store owner may be allowed to take direct orders to expand their printing business, whether through online or offline mode. The main office handles the administration of your company, while the branch locations operate the business.
Print-ready File
A 'print-ready file' refers to a file that fulfills all of the requirements for a high-resolution printed output without the need for any further modifications.
In simpler terms, it is the file that can be used by the printers to produce the desired job.
Promotional Products
These are the products that are personalized or customized by companies/businesses with their brands and offered to customers or other businesses.
Scaling Factor
The Scaling Factor is the resize factor for the print-ready file. This will increase or decrease the order PDF file size according to the ratio specified. This helps the customers get a scaled preview of their design without any compromise on the quality of the image.
Shipment Label
A shipment label contains the details that a carrier needs to get the package from its origin to its destination. It mostly includes the recipient's name, address, and a scannable barcode with a tracking number that enables the shipping partner to provide a delivery update
Store Configuration
It is the section of the Admin Panel that allows you to configure some general settings for your store such as Languages, Currencies, Payment & Shipping methods, and more along with third-party integrations.
Store Fields
The Store Fields are the fields that are useful in designing the block templates and help in gathering an individual’s personal data. These fields can be based on individual Stores or specific department(s). Examples of such fields can be – Date of Joining, Blood Group. Information on these fields can be helpful while designing identity cards.
Storefront
It is the interface of your Online Store through which the products/services are advertised and sold.
