What is Imposition?
Imposition is one of the fundamental steps in the prepress printing process. It consists of the arrangement of the printed product's pages on the printer's sheet in order to obtain faster printing, simplify binding and reduce paper waste.
What is Sheet-Size Management? How to add a sheet?
Imposition is one of the fundamental steps in the printing process. In the Imposition process, the arrangement of pages to be printed on the printer’s sheet is known as Sheet Size Management.
This helps obtain faster printing, simplify binding, and reduce paper waste. If imposition is done correctly then, it minimizes printing time by maximizing the number of pages per impression, reducing the cost of press time and materials.

What is Imposition Marks Management? How to add marks?
In Imposition Marks Management, the admin can manage the series of standard crop marks, folding marks, and registration marks for the PDF Imposition.
In addition, users can define their own marks for convenience. Color bars and customized color markers can be created and placed on the signature sheet with a single click of the mouse. The calibration bar can also be self-generated to ensure accuracy.
To add a mark, navigate to Admin >> Imposition Beta >> Imposition Marks Management > Add Imposition Mark:
In the above screen, you will be required to enter the title, select mark type (whether it is cutting mark or registration mark), and then upload the file for imposition mark in PDF format.
How to create imposition?
Below are the steps for creating the imposition:
- Create Sheet Size from Sheet size management (Imposition Beta>>sheet size management>>Add)
- Add Schema from the Imposition schema manager (Imposition Beta>>Imposition Schema Manager>>Add)
How to impose a job?
To impose a job, please follow the below steps:
- Navigate to the Admin >> Imposition Beta >> Impose Job
- If you have created any schema, this is the step to use those schemas on your design. Using this screen, you can impose your product design and download the file.
- You will require a file in PDF file format to be able to impose a job. Use the Upload File button and select the file location from your computer.
- After uploading the PDF File, select a schema from the available list and then click on the Impose Now to get the final PDF file with a job imposed on it as per the selected imposition schema.
- You can easily download this imposed file and use it for the further printing process.
How to impose a job once an order is received?
To impose a job after you have received an order of the schema assigned products, follow the below-given steps:
- Go to the Admin >> Orders >> List Orders. Under the Action menu of the order, you’ll find the ‘Impose Order’ option:
- This will redirect you to the Impose Order screen:
- If the customer has created/uploaded the design then, you will get the option to download the user file or re-upload the print-ready file.
- The schema selected in the Product Schema Setting will come pre-selected in this section. However, you can change the schema or else choose to continue.
- Clicking on the Impose Now will allow you to download the print-ready imposed file.
Is it possible to assign a product-wise schema? How?
Yes, it is possible to assign a Product-wise Schema.
For assigning a product-wise schema, navigate to Admin >> Imposition Beta >> Product Schema Settings and configure the imposition schema for individual products based on the product size.
Has the imposition only basic features?
Yes, we have recently launched this option and it is Beta Version. In the future, we will be upgrading and updating this option.
